Practice being safe!
I think one of the reasons students have trouble in school is because they can’t do well with the work and other students know.
I remember once in high school the history teacher had students take turns reading and explaining the terms at the end of the chapter. When it got to be my turn I botched the word so badly other students laughed. Especially the pretty girl who sat
in front of me gave a hardy laugh at me.
I have found that the most important aspects to help people who have reading problems is for the student to feel safe.
This is where the image of Father God comes into play. In a dream Father God told me I could call him “big poppie” It is a name of endearment that reveals how he feels about me. You might wonder why I talk about Father God in book about the brain?
Father God gives us our identity. He is our provider and protector. He can make us feel like we can take a learning risk. Go ahead and stop for a minute and ask him.
Without identity, knowing who we are we are learning orphans.
The most powerful message about the power of God to combat learning fear is Psalm 23 in the Passion translation: ” The Good Shepherd” It starts out by saying “The Lord is my best friend and my shepherd.”
He offers me a resting place for me in his luxurious love.’ Just pondering those words can break learning fear. You can feel safe!Read Psalm 23 every night to create new neuropathways. Read the translation out loud for a powerful fear breaker.
